The Convent Bukit Nanas, founded in 1899 by the Sisters of the Holy Infant Jesus is one of the oldest school if not the oldest in Kuala Lumpur. The present school which is located at Bukit Nanas, near the KL Tower was built in 1911.

Recently, the school’s uniformed units (extra curricular activities) held a campfire in the school field, and in the evening a bonfire was created for the night activities. All went well and everyone enjoyed themselves. In these days of digital imagery almost everyone carry some sort of a camera and many of them took many photographs of the event.

One of the teachers took images of the bonfire on her mobile phone camera and to her surprise discovered later that three images of the bonfire turned out amazingly different from the shots she took.

This image appeared to look like the figure of the Virgin Mary mysteriously rising from the bonfire. The height of the real fire was only about a meter high, and the height of the figure of Mary seems to be approximately 4 meter in the picture.

The second image has somewhat a sideway figure of Christ with long hair and cropping a beard. Again, this image was of the same bonfire which was merely a meter high, and the mysterious figure of the Christ seems to be about 4 meters.

This third amazing picture appeared like a cross of the crucifixion mysteriously rising from the same bonfire, but the cross seems to be about 4 to 5 meters high.

These pictures were given to me by someone who attended, and was present at the event. I am an amateur photographer and do a lot of digital imaging editing, and so I decided to examine the images to see if they were manipulated in any way. My simple analysis was to look at the photos’ hex files and IPTC info, and they revealed no manipulations or editing. Of course my analysis won’t be conclusive and I intend to take it to the experts for further analysis.

As it is, these images are amazingly interesting and mysterious especially so as it occurred at the Convent, and that the statue of the Virgin is close by the bonfire.

There’s a lot of stories spreading around the school, especially by the Catholics, and non-Christians on these mysterious pictures of the Crux, Christ and Mary. As for the Malays who are Muslims, these photos are jaw-gaping and perhaps even shocking and frightening.
